Wu Yifan, the Twist for the Rookie

Wu Yifan, the Twist for the Rookie

Well, hello again, it’s been while since my last post in here. All this while I don’t feel to write anything but here I am right now, ’cause twitter seems can’t handle my opinion anymore,  well so I guess I’ll start to write again.

There many things happened during this span of time and to be quite honest, I don’t know where do I have to start. So I picked up the most recent issue going on in my twitter which I have many pro and contra, well, it’s no other than my bias, Wu Yifan.

So, the recent issues were all about movie posters and Harper Bazaar photoshoot.

Why those two became issues? Trust me, I don’t know either because I don’t see much problem in there especially for Bazaar photoshoot.

Well, let’s get started with the movie poster.

Some fans upset with the poster for many reasons and here I show you several posters and official casts photoshoot they released those far

The two photos released shortly after the official announcement of Somewhere Only We Know production and the two didn’t drew any bad comments yet and fans begin to wonder what kind of story of the movie be like since in China, movie or drama production always kept under the wrap. There so little things about the storyline or anything about the movie that revealed to public.

New posters been released again and it was nothing ‘cause it still consistent with the previous two or the other promotional photo that officially released, there alwas four of the casts.

However the talk begin when the first movie clip released, in the 30 second video, there only Yifan and Likun couple and Gordon Alexander and Jinglei couple, the other two, ChangZhao and Yizha all of sudden vanished from the sight.

First teaser

Second teasers

The questions begin, from, where did Changzhao and Yizha dissapeared? And did Grdon Alexander and Jinglei couple did so much in the movie? Or, what kind the storile of this movie exactly? But many comments and opinion were over promoted of Yifan and Likun couple (I don’t like to say but I think the opinion is true).

The arguments went on as the new posters came out

The posters only consist by two couples and from here Changzhao and Yizha were definately out of sight. And so, when the official teasers came out, all the clip was all about Yifan, Likun, Jinglei and Gordon Alexander.

Even me, I was fooled by the storyline before. All this time I was thinking that the main story would revolved around Yifan, Likun, Changzhao and Yizha. But I guess, I surprised by the — abrupt — change of the promotional photos and posters.

All the more when the cinema version poster came out, all the bad comments toward the director rising once again. Some of fans accused her to use Yifan for promoting the movie, as if there only her and Yifan.

For me personally, from the photos that released earlier (where there always four casts in it) and the official posters, I think it was inconsistent from the SOWK team. I know, the whole storyline only the team themselves so all they can do whatever they want for the posters or teaser clips. My point is, if there four from the start then ideally will still four in the end because movie is not like the real life where none of us can’t handle the future. In the real life is still possible we begin with four and end up with three or two, but hey, this is movie, there a director, a script-writer and whole team to control where the story will going and how it will ended.

If you asking me I like this final poster or not, well, I don’t like it. My reason why I don’t like the poster is, SOWK can hired a better graphic designer. I don’t care about how many of them in it (though I still rooted five or six of them on one frame) or how huge Xu Jinglei face will be, the only one that intriguing me is the design. They should do much more better than this.

From the poster, the storyline seems ambigous. Especially the one where Xu Jinglei, Yifan and Likun on one frame, people can suspect that Yifan was involved in love triangle where the fact is not.

Another issue was, Bazaar photoshoot. And this issue is the most ridiculous things I ever heard. Some upset about Jinglei see-through blouse and saying Yifan shouldn’t do such kind of photoshoot. Other upset and questioned, why did Jinglei even follow Yifan to appear in the cover, why didn’t she leave Yifan alone on the cover?

bazaar2015feb5

Well, for the first issue about Jinglie’s see-through blouse, I don’t have problem with it so, I let you to judge it by yourself. If anything, I like the photoshoot, Jinglei can pulled of her sexy look with someone much younger than her and most of all, she didnt need to reveal her skin.

The second issue, I’m not Bazaar editor so I don’t know the motif, why they took the couple for their cover. FYI, I’d been a editor so quite sometimes and even if it’s not magazine, but I know how they work. I don’t think it was Jinglei’s request to appear in the cover with Yifan. It must the editor of the magazine (in this case is Harper Bazaar) itself.

Honestly I, myself, I don’t see any problem with them being the cover. I don’t know if there many mind that.

Lastly, there one opinion thar drew me to write more in here. Last night, I came acrross with the funny opinion to me. It said, to those who obligated to be thankful to Jinglei with all her decisions and everything is insult Yifan because surely even without Jinglei, Yifan still can do so much.

I’m agree with that but also I’m disagree.

I’m agree that we should thankful to Jinglei to give Yifan so much — great and rare — opportunity he was dearly wished for. To me, SOWK is like Yifan’s experiment project. Why? He’s rookie (and please not that he was never been in acting before unless for his group MV or CFs) but he took lead cast for a movie, secondly, have you ever heard an amateur up for the big chance of being songwriter and even producer for the movie OST?

I’m sorry to called Yifan as an amateur because for me he is. Sure he worked in musical field before but please notice that he was a performer, he only sung — well, he was a rapper before — the song the team given to him, he didn’t write or produce or anything, all he did was sung the song according the score, nothing else.

If I was Jinglei, SOWK is my movie, why I do trust an amateur to do the soundtrack where obviously I can find the better musician to do it because let’s face it, music is doing big thing in the movie too? The answer is either Yifan request to her to do the OST and she sees the potential in this rookie, so she trust him.

If you argue, but Jinglei was still supervising the MV.

Let make this clear, MV and music is DIFFERENT I don’t think Jinglei has something to do with There is a Place because there only mentioned Yifan and Bingyang.

But again, just because I’m thankful to her doesn’t mean I agree with all her policy, I have some dissagreement toward her since the beginning of the SWOK promotional, but at that time, fans accused me as Yifan antis and now when I’m already move to think something else, fans starting to protest to her with the same reason I did before. It’s so funny to me.

And, I’m still believe that even without Jinglei, Yifan can do so much, of course he can because he is Wu Yifan. He can do everything he can and wants. But unfortunately, it was the woman named Xu Jinglei who took him under her wings for his first project, so, you liek it or not, Jinglei, SOWK and There is a Place playing huge role in Yifan’s future career as solo artist AND it was normal that you should be thankful to her, because I think, Yifan personally also thankful to her.

Actually, the relation between Yifan and Jinglei is mutual benefit, Yifan need the chance and room to explore himself and Jinglei need his popularity and fans to give her movie so much love and attentions. This is win win situation for both parties.

If you can’t see her as someone who give great chance to your idol and I don’t think you can appreciated someone who help you in real life either.

Well, it’s enough I think, I need to stop writing before I can’t stop myself. LOL

I welcome opinion from you all as long as we can discuss and talk with chill head and appropriate language ^^

See you next time

CNBLUE February Failure

CNBLUE February Failure

Before I start this, I would like to warn you guys that this article is base on my opinion so I apologize if any of you get offended.

This is not a review but more like critics toward the Can’t Stop album and I guess I am one of the few Boice that oppose this album  from the concept, MV, music in general, and comeback stages. So fellow Boice, read this with your own risk because I already received many angry mentions on twitter because of my disagreement. So yeah, if you are the kind of fans who can’t stand with different idea then I advice you not to read this.

First Impression

cantstop

From the start FNC announced CNBLUE’s new album, I already disagree with the idea, why? Because that means Yonghwa did prepare this album during his MHIYD and Blue Moon Tour and let face it, that Yonghwa is the main person in this album more over right now he also serving as producer as well. I just don not want him to over work himself although he keep saying his work is fun.

My disagreement bit loosens when one night Yonghwa tweeted and saying something about brass music which was increasing my curiosity. Unfortunately, my excitement did not last long because FNC release a selca of the member in MV filming set. I quickly conclude that the album will not meet my expectation and I doubt if I will like the album either. And the more FNC — that continuously — release promotional photos and teasers the more I have no interest with the album.

Honestly I just watched the MV once, and during the time I was just frowning, what with the song and MV? CNBLUE became more and more idol-ish (but for sure I cannot complain, it is Korean after all, what can I expect but as fans I cannot help but disappoint).  And when finally I bought the digital version while I am waiting for my copy arrived, I just glad that I put my expectation on the right place.

One word for this album, I DO NOT LIKE IT (yet I still buy 2 versions of the album).

Why?

cantstop23

First of all, I can find that Can’t Stop music style in many popular band and music now days, nothing special with this album unlike CNBLUE’s previous album because Cant Stop is dominates by commercial music ( ps: I start to listen another Kpop music other than FNC artist to try to understand their style more).

To me CNBLUE has lost their uniqueness, lost their touch in order to give another color in Kpop music. Can’t Stop failed to show their own style and I hate that. The only difference among those Kpop idol is that CNBLUE is playing instruments for real, compose and produce their own songs but those not enough to buy me.

MV

cantstop35

Do not ask me about it because I am highly uninterested, I can bear to listen to the song but not watching the MV.  I read many reviews from fans and medias with mix outcome but I guess I go with those who put the thumbs down.

When the MV was out it was just proven why I do not like the album, to me being mature does not mean you have to wear suit and singing endless love. Mature in music, technique and vision is more important. From here I think they only after cash instead of art. And love is not only love interest between man and woman, there many kind of love in this world yet these days they only care about desire. Where is CNBLUE who likes to sing about their dream, about their daily life, about their interest in chasing the bigger stage? All gone already by the word of “mature”.

Can’t Stop

cantstop4

Speaking about the album I do not understand why they choose Can’t Stop as title track, aside of song title that also album title, I do not think that the song is match enough with the MV concept. For me, if they insist with the concept, why did not the go with Cold Love or Sleepless Night? Both are having melody that suit for the concept. To me Can’t Stop is just plain popular music that you can find everywhere now days that song has no CNBLUE taste at all.

Personally I rooted for Diamond Girl or Like A Child as title track. Only those songs that show it were CNBLUE who compose and sing it. Diamond Girl is just as CNBLUE’s usual music, unique and only them who made it. This song is just different with their previous songs they made without lessen the attractiveness of guitar riff, bold drum beat and fancy bass not to mention the “Brass”, suddenly I wondering Yonghwa’s tweet that night is about this song. Sadly it is not a title track.

Next up is Cold Love, how to say, it is one of CNBLUE’s kinds of medium beat songs, one of the sweet (or sad) slow rock songs, followed closely by Sleepless Night. Another medium low beat songs with interesting guitar solo. Cold Love and Sleepless Night should be Burning Soul favorites songs since here Jonghyun can show off all out of his skill both in singing and guitar. Sleepless Night is bit pop-ish compare to with intense Cold Love rock sound.

The music intensity came into the lowest point for Love Is, another pop ballad and popular and commercial music CNBLUE presented to Boice. Nothing I can say about this song because aside from Yonghwa and Jonghyun harmonic voice, there nothing special about this song.

Last one is Like A Child, another unique song brought up by piano sound, followed by orchestra blended by main instruments, Like A Child bring back CNBLUE’s musical style that seem lost in this album.

Note

I do feel that Minhyuk’s drumming style is very various in this album. He seemed to have more space to explore himself compare with CNBLUE’s previous album.

And of course I do not forget with Jungshin’s fancy bass (this is biased so do not count in).

Comeback

I do feel nothing but proud less, why? Because no “LIVE” and even been cheated by “all live show comeback special”. They did live for TV air, okay, live. But apparently Korean has new meaning of “LIVE” because as long as I know, LIVE means you play there and I watch you at the same time but not with Korean, they have different meaning of that. And if you hope I will appreciate the effort they made for recording — wasting for me — over than 15 hours, nope, do not expect me. Because for me that recording is the most ridiculous thing ever, what did they do wasting so much time just for worth 6 songs and 3 medleys? And the point is; what is called LIVE when they take one song more than once? TV program is full of trick and I never fond of that. For me as cool as their performance on that screen, I am sorry that I am hardly appreciating it.

I am too demanding Boice am I not? LOL

[STARCAST] 2014. Lee Jung Shin’s Dreaming Picture Story

[STARCAST] 2014. Lee Jung Shin’s Dreaming Picture Story

Hello. This is Lee Jung Shin from CNBLUE.
When I was a student, I dreamed of becoming a photographer along with becoming a singer. Since New Year 2014 is here, I am feeling joy as I started taking pictures again as my hobby. I am curious about what kind of dreams and plans everyone has in 2014.

For few years after making a debut as CNBLUE in 2010, I was getting used to getting pictures taken rather than taking pictures, but I suddenly remembered the dream when I was a kid and decided ‘Let’s try taking pictures~’. With curiosity, I read this and that and also searched and I came to remember the time one by one of studying photography by myself and also the good memories of my childhood and I am getting happy.

A month ago in January 2014, I went to North, Central and Latin America with CNBLUE members as part of the world tour. In America, other than the performance schedules, shooting for the album cover to make a comeback in Korea that will be released soon (will be released on 24th, next week!) was also expected to take place throughout the regions of New York so it was a bit tight schedule. It was a tight schedule but I decided to contain in my camera this special travel story.

I diligently carried the camera and took pictures of things I want to take pictures of and had a fun time. I would like to share with everyone what I saw, felt and what I want to talk about. So I have prepared.

On the day of performing in New York, I usually do not go to bed early and do not get up early but maybe because it is due to jet lag, I was able to wake up in the early morning. I took the camera and just walked out the door. On this day, it really snowed a lot but the streets of New York was crowded with lots of people. I got a feeling that everyone was busy living their lives in different ways. There is a person who waits for the traffic light, a person who is looking for some place in a complicated street and there are people who are moving as if they are heading to the place they always go to… I felt that there are really various people.

bunnystarcastbunnystarcast1bunnystarcast2I have caught those very moments in the camera.
To me, the first impression of a city called New York is either cold or not familiar yet… It gave me that kind of feeling.
However, a cold dawn passed and the sun rises and I got more excited as the performance in New York is coming up.

bunnystarcast3I also caught on the camera New York’s Brooklyn Bridge, the place where we shot the album cover of our new album ‘Can’t stop’.
I always carried the camera just in case while taking pictures of the album cover and I am glad I did that since a good picture came out. It was a very freezing weather that is below zero but when I saw Brooklyn Bridge, it was a day after meeting with fans in New York, who greeted us, so I remember at least my mind being very warm.

Fortunately to me, there are always excellent models. I come to think about old times a lot when I take pictures of the members, and it also feels like taking pictures of people is becoming much more fun.

bunnystarcast13bunnystarcast14bunnystarcast4bunnystarcast5After performances in New York and LA, we went to Latin America. Right here is Peru, which we visit for the first time1
Peru feels a lot different from New York.

bunnystarcast6In Peru, the performance hall was outdoors. So there were lots of things to take pictures of. I have taken a picture of Yong Hwa, an excellent model who makes best poses when I am holding the camera. It is a picture that I took at the back of the waiting room after the rehearsal for the performance in Peru is over, and it is always fun taking pictures of the leader of CNBLUE who is also the oldest member. He automatically makes poses and he sometimes takes a picture of me also.

There are so many fans lined up behind Yong Hwa and can everyone see them?
No doubt… This is Yong Hwa, who can easily make poses that can sometimes look awkward.

bunnystarcast7The fact that people from this far away know CNBLUE and passionately supports our concert was rather cool and an honor. I felt that lots of people love CNBLUE while doing the world tour so I was happy and at the same time, the sense of responsibility got bigger.

bunnystarcast15This is guitarist from CNBLUE, Jong Hyun. It is him going around the performance hall before the rehearsal. This person… He is relatively picky when taking pictures. It is hard to find him standing still.. He is a picky model but Jong Hyun, he really is white.. Yes.. He looks like mayonnaise.

bunnystarcast8Next up.
This is Min Hyuk, the drummer from CNBLUE, in the middle of the rehearsal. The truth is, out of all the pictures in my camera, I have least of Min Hyuk… I don’t know the reason why. However, when I looked with the perspective of someone who takes pictures, Min Hyuk was really chic… Why would Min Hyuk through the lens become chic..?

bunnystarcast16bunnystarcast9The last but not least of this world tour, Chile!
The day before the concert, we went to different places for SBS comeback show that will be aired on March 2nd (make it as an excuse). We met a kid in a restaurant. I have taken a picture of a kid, who was really naïve, in the camera. I thought that this kid will match well with the song ‘Children’s Song’, the song that is listed in the album Can’t Stop.

Also, throughout the regions in Chile, we could see either graffiti or fancy decorations easily, and it is said that it also contains the meaning of trying to fight off evil spirits.

bunnystarcast17The weather of Chile back then was Korea’s summer and I had a special feeling as I was able to feel the summer weather in winter. I guess this is the reason for travelling to countries that has warm weather in winter, right?

Just like you see in the picture, everyone has joyful steps~

bunnystarcast10When we were passing by, there happened to be kids under the shade~ We love kids very much, and Yong Hwa is saying hi…

bunnystarcast11We also went to a wine farm for the after-party after the concert is over. Maybe because the entire performance is over, everyone looked really relaxed.bunnystarcast12There is me taking pictures and I see Min Hyuk, who is looking at me(?) from far away~
When I looked at the members through the lens and took the pictures myself, I was able to feel once again that ‘everyone is becoming mature and are really turning into men’. It is 5th year since making the debut as of this year, and I think I will be happy if I can be together with the members for a long time and hold the pictures of them in my camera. There are more pictures but sadly, this is it for now~
There are lots of parts in which I lack but I hope everyone look at it in a positive way. I hope to keep enjoying taking pictures and share it with everyone from now on to the future~

Thank you for watching until the end and please show lots of support toward CNBLUE Can’t Stop that will be released on February 24th.

Thank you.

CNBLUE: Hello we are CNBLUE.

Yonghwa: Definitely concert is Korea. First of all, I don’t have language problem at all.

Jungshin: We don’t. I will speak everything who comes out from my mouth.Yonghwa: Anyone, does Blue Moon concert is your first concert? Many. Then I will make a notice for newbies. If you wake up before 3pm Sunday, we fail. At least you wake up at 4pm in very sleeping mood, then you can say you played well. Here, today there are many fans, my friends from Busan and our parents. I hope we can show them how much we’re able to playing well. You got it? Jungshin, let’s greet one by one. What are you in charge? Besides bass, what are you in charge in CNBLUE?

Jungshin: Don’t you know yet? I am in charge in cuteness, and cuteness. Sorry. Hi, I am bassist, Lee Jungshin.

Jonghyun: Hi. I’m guitarist Jonghyun. As hyung said, I feel my heart open really.

Jungshin: Did just you say two words at each concert in foreign countries?

Jonghyun: I felt difficult to speak.

Jungshin: I love you, I’m sorry. What else did you say?

Jonghyun: Today, we are here in Korea. I want to make a wonderful concert with you.
Yonghwa: Jonghyun, you’ve dyed your hair to blonde not long ago, but why did you change it again? You should have kept it longer like me.

Jonghyun: I wanted to, but the response me was so bad.

Yonghwa: Minhyuk, greet to audience.

Minhyuk: Hi, I’m drummer Minhyuk. We were busy doing rehearsal yesterday. This morning, Jonghyun hyung said, ‘My hair doesn’t get dry’. Why? Then I found him dyed. I found it today. We contacted eyes and did rehearsal, but I found Jonghyun hyung changed hair color this morning.

Yonghwa: Really, we are good team work. CNBLUE is team work.

Jungshin: We are interested in others a lot.

Yonghwa: From now on, we will play again. I’ve played a little bit dark songs. Now I will dance at the front stage. You know I’m CNBLUE’s dancer? So I will dance with you. If you don’t dance because you’re alone here, I will drag you up on the stage.

Jungshin: Then I will not dance.

Yonghwa: But if you’re volunteer and come up here, I would feel burdened. Anyway, I will come to the front and play properly.

Jonghyun: He must have practiced dance.

Jungshin: As far as I know, he practices dance a lot.

Yonghwa: Wow definitely my popularity is huge. Wow what a man like me! Please sing along, A man like me!

Jungshin: Minhyuk, how do you feel that you came up in front?

Minhyuk: Good. This is the position Yonghwa hyung always singing. I am glad that I came here so far. I am happy I can see all the audience. I envy you, Yonghwa hyung. Hi~

Jungshin: I feel nervous Minhyuk because is in front. Please control us from behind.

Minhyuk: Me too, I feel comfortable when I’m behind. I feel nervous when I’m in front.

Jungshin: Everyone, I think you already know our world tour Q-sheet.

Audience: We don’t.

Jungshin: If you don’t, that’s better. Please listen as if you didn’t know.

Yonghwa: As if what? They don’t know, they’ve never been there, how do they know? Now it’s time to soothe, with acoustic guitar.

Jungshin: It’s been a long time since our last Seoul concert. Many things had happened. I had my tooth broken ‘cause eating meat. And I started horse riding which I’ve never imagined I would do.

Yonghwa: We are going too fast, let’s have time talking. In Korean concert, we should talk a lot.

Jungshin:  If it isn’t in Korea, where we can talk (freely)? How could I reveal that I had my tooth broken by eating meat?

Yonghwa: Jungshin, Jonghyun, Minhyuk, this is Korea, so never speak in non-Korean. Okay? Okay?

Minhyuk: Isn’t ‘Okay’  is English?

Yonghwa: It’s my ‘Style’.

Minhyuk: Isn’t ‘Style’ is English?

Yonghwa: One more thing which is only in Korean concert is ‘sing along’. No one can beat Korean with ‘sing along’. Everytime, I hear a huge sound. This song, I expected you. Love light.

Jonghyun: Yonghwa ssi, Yonghwa ssi, This is the 3rd biggest venue in Korea.

Yonghwa: Ah really? I feel honored. But we still have long way to go. Ah everyone, you listen to us very well, you sing along as well. I was surprised at Love light. From the first, you didn’t miss the lyric. You sang along well. The part I used to sing wrongly, now I memorized it perfectly. 2 over 5 of you sang that part correctly. After 10 years, I think all of you will be able to sing correctly. Maybe you memorize the whole Q-sheet. Next song is the genre that I am confident most. Confident in composing. So I named that genre. It’s my style. I will sing it, please listen to it. This is the first time I call the name. From next time, if you want to request me to compose this style, tell me ‘decadent sexual’

Jungshin: What is the abbreviation?

Yonghwa: DSM. Dark Sexy Metal. Ten of you showed cynical laugh. I will sing it properly. I will show you what is ‘decadent sexual’ Are you ready? Make some noise~ La la la

Jonghyun: Do you see I’m performing with risking my life?

Audience: Yes you do.

Jungshin: Your hair got messy.

Jonghyun: My hair is ok. It’s almost the end. Not much time left. Let’s play well so that we don’t regret(Haipsida = dialect) OK?

Yonghwa: Haipsida! (imitating Jonghyun) Let’s play well so that we don’t regret! Next up, I will show my extreme dance at the front stage. As I walk, please scream at me. Are you ready? I have intuition that it will be a great concert. (Intuition lyric)

Yonghwa: We can’t stop here. Because you want to jump more. Your battery still remains 2%. Don’t get exhausted. I give you 30 seconds. Everyone, ready to jump again? Louder! Are you ready?

You’ve fallen for me (replay)

01:56:58~

Minhyuk: Fast fast!

Yonghwa: Well, it was an exercise. My friends, parents didn’t stand up, so it’s a null. If you’re keep sitting, I won’t stop. Parents, my friends, if you don’t join making wave, I will keep the wave to the end. You can’t listen to other songs. Are you ready? One two three Go! Yeh~ Applause. Now, divide from here, right and left. Right make some noise~ Left make some noise~ Say love love love, Say clap clap clap.
Say love love clap love, Say clap clap love clap clap …

CONCERT REVIEW: Araneta Painted In Blue

The Smart Araneta Coliseum was filled with the color blue last June 15, when Korean boy band CNBLUE performed before thousands of screaming Kpop fans.

The concert dubbed as the “Blue Moon Tour,” saw fans lined-up as early as 6pm outside of the coliseum. BOICEs (official name of the group’s fan club) were present wearing t-shirts, holding blue glow sticks, posters and all kinds of paraphernalia to show their support for their favorite idols.

As the arena started to fill in with fans, many of them screamed when the faces of the four members composed of Lee Jung-shin, Lee Jong-hyun, Jung Yong-hwa and Kang Min-hyuk appeared on screen.  As the fans patiently wait for the boys to appear on stage, a short presentation of the group’s advocacy work was splashed on the screen monitors. Since their formation in 2009, the boys have been active in raising funds for a school named after them in Africa, where the school known as the CNBLUE School provides meals and daycare services to the enrolled students.

BMms135

After twenty minutes past eight, the show began with the introduction of the group through its special light and screen effects. All of the boys were shown going up a staircase and holding their instruments before finally coming out to the deafening and ear bleeding screams of the fans. Glowsticks lit up and the whole area was in a splash of blue light.

Unlike other Korean boybands, CNBLUE is not the sing and dance type of group who would just belt out to pre-recorded songs. These guys can play instruments with its leader Yong-hwa showcasing not only his guitar skills but also playing the keyboard.

BMms131BMms122BMms124BMms130BMms121The group sang many of its popular songs which includes “I’m Sorry,” “In My Head,” “Where You Are,” and “I’m a Loner.”

During in between numbers, the boys greeted their fans with tagalog words such as Magandang gabi po, kamusta na kayo, and mahal ko kayo.   The audience even cheered when the three other members Jung-shin, Jong-hyun and Min-hyuk with the help of a “cheat sheet,” read in tagalog that it was Yong-wha’s birthday on June 22.  The fans greeted him and Yong-hwa, who was given a birthday hat, said that it was by far the best birthday he had. A day before the concert, fans gave him a birthday cake during the press conference in SM Megamall.

It was quite obvious that Yong-wha, who appeared in Koreanovelas such as Heartstrings and You’re Beautiful was overwhelm with the screams and greetings that he almost forgot to sing a part of a song but laughed it out.  He kept on telling the audience to “make some noise,” all the time during the two and a half hour concert.

Like any other concert, the boys also had an encore before the audience. After the final song, the boys took the opportunity to have a photo taken with many of the fans behind them.

CNBLUE’s Blue Moon Concert in Melbourne, Australia!

CNBLUE’s Blue Moon Concert in Melbourne, Australia!

On May 31st, the 2013 CNBLUE BLUE MOON WORD TOUR concert was held in Melbourne, Australia and started off with a bang!

Literally! Rain, lighting and thunder all happened on the day. To all the fans that started lining up at 7am that morning, they definitely showed what you call dedication and commitment to your International artist! They were surely not disappointed by the end of the night!

The opening act commenced at 7:30pm at Festival Hall in Melbourne, with a traditional band layout and a massive screen at the back. It was 100% obvious that all our attention would be on the 4 amazing rockers about to embrace the stage.  As the lights dimmed and the sea of people screamed, a moon appeared on the screen followed by a futuristic video of the members of CNBLUE. Within a few minutes Lee Jonghyun, Kang Minhyuk and Lee Jungshin came out onto the stage and took their positions for the first act. Just before they started, our leading man Jung Yonghwa took to the stage and rocked out their first song for the night, ‘Where You Are.

bmsidney88

‘Where You Are’ was the perfect song to start the show. With a slightly remixed ending showcasing their amazing talent and Jonghyun’s ridiculously fantastic guitar skills, the fans embraced the song wholeheartedly; singing along as if they had sung it 100 times before. It was a clear indicator that the members were going to make their Melbourne fans happy!

Their next song was ‘Get Away.’ Throughout the song, our 3 guitarist completely embraced the stage. They were rockin’ it from one side of the stage to the other, and even back to Minhyuk, who was putting his all into every snare and drum hit making the fans go wild. Yonghwa would then scream out “everybody jump!” And that’s when you really felt the vibration in the floorboards of the venue!

One Time’ was their third song for the night. With a heavier rock intro at the start, red lasers shooting into all directions and a background video of burning buildings, the fans were all fired up chanting like crazy. When Yonghwa would sing the words “I know” the fans would sing back with “you know.bmsidney90

The amazing acoustics of Festival Hall, along with the strong vocals and instrumental skills of CNBLUE made such a great pairing -leaving long lasting impression on the people of Melbourne. A sea of CNBLUE red and blue glow sticks waved around the venue and the high pitched screams of  the fans gave everybody goosebumps as they listened to Yongha scream ”top of the world.

After the song, Yonghwa spoke a little bit of English and surprised the fans by saying “good day mate,” one of Australia’s popular greetings.

bmsidney94

He then followed this with a “How are you” and Jungshin joined in by attempting an “Aussie Aussie oi oi oi” chant that sent a roar of laughter and screams throughout the crowd. This was very endearing and sweet! After Yonghwa said “Next” they began their intro into ”Man like Me.

Coffee Shop” was song number 5 for the night, with CNBLUE screaming out ”Everybody make one noise…..” the crowd responded with screams, rocking hand movements and a lot of jumping!

The age group at the concert varied from young females to middle aged women enjoying their dose of Korean rock goodness, bopping to the music and singing along to the songs. CNBLUE’s reach was massive and appreciated by everyone no matter who they were or how old they are. This is what make K-POP so incredibly strong and amazing.

bmsidney96

A Pink Floyd inspired spectrum of colour played on the big flat screen, rising and falling with the variations of beats and sounds, which paved the way for their next song “Have A Good Night.

Claps filled the hall for “Wake Up” as the disco ball came on and the flat screen, which changed into what reminded me of comic book artwork, showed the lyrics to the song. ‘Are you having fun’ and ’Lets go’ flashed on the screen in bright neon colours and lighting bolts. It was absolutely insane.

Throughout the song, Yonghwa was lifting the engagement of the fans even more by screaming “Say yeah” and ”Make some noise!!

bmsidney95

Minhyuk and the other members grooved to the beat and sank deep into the music as Jonghyun showed an amazing guitar solo that was completely electrifying.

The music stopped and Yonghwa encouraged the crowd to clap, saying “Ok my turn! Are you ready? Ok, 1, 2 wake up wake up!” As the music slowly built up he went into a scream as the heavy drums, bass and guitar kicked in again for the finale of the song.

The band then decided to take a little break to have a chat with their Melbourne audience!

Yonghwa: “We love Melbourne … We love you!!

Can you speak Korean?

Annyeo?

Minhyuk: “THANK YOU!! We were here in Australia 2 years ago, we go Sydney two years ago, but this time we come to Melbourne!! I really love it here

There are many reasons why, but it is sick! Very sick!

Jungshin: “I love steak!

Yonghwa: “Medium rare please

We had steak yesterday, soooo delicious’!!”

“I can’t speak english…. A little…

Ok we sing love song

Next song is Love Light

After that super cute chat, the announcement of their next song sent the fans wild! I spoke to a few fans earlier before the show and this was definitely one song that they wanted to hear. A project by Jonghyun, Yonghwa started off the performance with a beautiful acoustic solo and then “1..2…1..2…3..4 Sing this song with me!” to which the fans sang along, as Jonghyun was at the bass for Yonghwa’s short rap.

bmsidney89

When the song finished the lights went off and reappeared again with the spotlight on Yonghwa for his beautiful piano solo.

The lights expanded to show the all the 4 members as they begin their performance of “Feeling.” I must say that looking around the crowd everyone had a look on their face as if their heart was melting, mine included!

As the piano faded out and the place got quiet again, a fan screamed “oppa saranghae!” Drums, bass and guitar as well clapping began simultaneously with Minhyuk’s drums becoming the focus. Screams were heard almost in sync with each hit of the snare. As the music faded, Yonghwa was left with his piano, playing yet another beautiful piano solo for the outro.

These Days” was next up, leaving the crowd in awe with Jonghyuns beautiful voice and jazzy feel to the song. The crowd was silent but very hypnotized at the same time.

After performing “Y,Why” the band decide to continue their conversation with the attentive crowd.

Yonghwa: “THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!

Are you having fun?

We too!

Minhyuk: “I want to come here again and again!

We love Melbourne

Yonghwa: “English very well

Are you guys having fun? Good day mate!

From now on hear our rockin roll music!

First it’s time to do dark sexy metal

ARE YOU READY!! LETS GO MELBOURNE

The ’dark sexy metal’ line was one of the highlights of the night!

La La La” was a great follow up after the previous slower song, and ridiculously hilarious conversation.

CNBLUE continued their heavier rock feel with “Just Please.” The extended instrumental piece of the outro was absolutely amazing and made us realize even more, that they are a force to be reckoned with.

bmsidney92

The next two songs for the night were “Tattoo” and the big hit, ”In My Head.” This was definitely a hit with the fans as they screamed wildly after hearing the intro, knowing exactly what was coming up next. Every time Yonghwa tried to encourage the fans to participate he never failed as an extremely loud roar always exploded from the crowd.

Yonghwa: ”I love you very very much

Tonight is Rockin ..I need more!!

So hot…ok from now on we have to get crazy

So I need your help…..I need you to scream!!

Are you ready Melbourne?!! Lets dance with me!! I’m dancing king of CNBLUE. Like usher, like Neyo, like Chris brown. I’m the best! ARE YOU READY MELBOURNE!! Lets party till the end!! “

The beat of the all too familiar hit “Intuition” started and brought on the biggest cheer along with the loudest claps and chanting I’ve heard so far. Almost every person in there knew the words and it really lifted up the atmosphere even higher.

With sweat dripping down their faces, the performance went on without a glitch or discomfort, showing true showmanship and dedication to providing the Melbourne fans with a outstanding show.

From the ending of “Intuition” this transitioned straight into “I’m a loner.” Another big hit that surely kept up the high energy level in the hall and sent the crowd into a frenzy.

bmsidney93

The ‘last’ song of the night was possibly the one everyone was waiting for “I’m sorry.” I actually got goosebumps every time the fans chanted “michyeosseo!” My favorite part was possibly the climatic alternate outro to I’m sorry. It was powerful and totally ‘dark sexy metal’ just the way Yonghwa wanted.

The ending of I’m sorry was meant to signal the concert’s end, but no! In true concert spirit the crowd sent roars of “ENCORE! ENCORE!” And “CNBLUE! CNBLUE!” trembling through the hall and as expected, our favourite band graced the stage yet again for “Hey You,” 1 of 5 of their encore songs.

When CNBLUE re-entered, they came out in black in their  ’Blue Moon’ concert tee shirts and Yonghwa said, “Thank you for waiting!

From an energetic “Hey You” they transitioned perfectly into “Love Girl“.

Yonghwa busted out some moves as the CNBLUE’s ‘dancing king’. He wore what looked like a zebra eared headband thrown by one of the fans on stage. This performance was quite comedic with their dancing and Yonghwa’s galloping across the stage.

Yonghwa also took a cap thrown to him by a fan in the audience, adjusted it and wore it just as they started their performance of ”You’ve Fallen For Me.” It was extremely sweet when they inserted “I love you Melbourne, I love you so much” into the well known title track from the K-Drama, ‘You’ve fallen for me.’

bmsidney97

After such a sweet performance Yonghwa also managed to get a hold of a sign that had ‘Dragon Flower’ on it and said “I Am Dragon Flower,” “My aka is Dragon Flower.” This was so adorable and funny that the crowd was left in stitches!

I must say that CNBLUE are well experienced entertainers! Their energy towards the crowd and their engagement was absolutely perfect. Their genuine personalities make you feel like their speaking to you directly. I also discovered that Yonghwas’ beat boxing skills are absolutely SICK!! Unfortunately for us, hardly any of us were able to repeat after him but it was great to see Jungshin laughing so wildly.

After their performance of “Love“ Minhyuk took to the mic and had a little chat.

Minhyuk: “I really want to come! I’ll come back for fun! I promise!!

Younghwa: “THANK YOU for your appreciation, THANK YOU for your screaming, I love you!

Tonight was really awesome

THANK YOU mate I love MELBOURNE!!!

This song last song

Sing along with me!

Try Again, Smile Again” was the last song to CNBLUE’s heart wrenchingly awesome concert. As the song ended the fans screamed, “I love you,” became a lot more apparent as the screams grew louder rising even above the thrashing of the guitars and drums. We all know good things come to an end, but the promise of their return one day definitely kept everyone happy.

Regardless of the long waiting and the weather, CNBLUE gave Melbourne fans an amazing memory that will last  forever! THANK YOU CNBLUE for coming all the way down to Australia and for giving it your all!

CNBLUE on Yess Magazine vol 1157

CNBLUE on Yess Magazine vol 1157

13

January last year, CNBLUE held two consecutive solo concerts, with high standard of music; it was attracted in total more than 6000 fans. After more than a year, CNBLUE is back again! From last week, 2013 Blue Moon World Tour concert had started among the Asia countries. With a larger-scale, more shocking and more explosive, it “bombed” near 14 000 of boices’ vision with auditory. That day, CNBLUE shouted more than 10 times of “WE LOVE HK!”, “I LOVE HONGKONG!”, “ARE YOU READY HONGKONG?!” to convey their love for Hong Kong. Since CNBLUE loves Hongkong so much, they can be a tour guide to promote (sell) Hong Kong! (Joke)

There will certainly be Hong Kong in the plan whenever CNBLUE holds a concert, this allows Hong Kong boices to have chances to close up and experience CNBLUE’s explosive concert. There are a lot of boices in Hong Kong, this explains why whenever CNBLUE arrive Hong Kong, and there will be hundreds of boices in the airport to cheer them on. Last week, CNBLUE had came Hong Kong earlier for rehearsal and to attend the press conference, to share their feelings for holding a concert in Hong Kong again.

Minhyuk is thankful for Hong Kong boices’ support and promised that the concert will be exciting.

Besides holding a concert, CNBLUE will also donate the special-version of blue moon T-shirt for auction; the funds raised will be donated to the charity.

4

Q1: This time, there are overwhelming responses for the concert ticket, upon hearing this news, how do you feel?

Minhyuk: The first time we heard about this, we felt very thankful yet excited, we’re very happy for Hong Kong boices’ continuously support. That’s why we decided to perform well in return.

Q2: This concert is larger-scale compared to the previous one, how do CNBLUE feel?

Yonghwa: This allows me to meet more fans, thus I’ll perform a better show than the in the previous concert.

Jungshin: This is my first time holding a concert with the name of CNBLUE; I feel that it will be a magnificent and cool performance. I hope that we can smoothly show the perfect side of us to everybody.

“Hope that you will film MV in Hong Kong”.

Q3:  Fans hope that they can interact with their idol up close, what has CNBLUE prepared for it?

Jonghyun: We have prepared a special part for the boices. Plus we will also perform all the songs in our new album. I believe everyone will be pleased with our performance.

Q4: New album Re: Blue all the songs are personally composed by CNBLUE, how do their inspirations of composing come about?

Yonghwa:  Actually it is based on every member’s personal and unique creativity. I don’t have a fixed direction of composing, all inspirations are naturally inspired.

Q5: Title song I’m Sorry’s MV is specially filmed in London, will you consider to film in Hong Kong for the next MV?

Yonghwa: Who knows…? Maybe! If we really film in Hong Kong, I hope we can film in the double-decker bus towards the night scenery of Hong Kong; the result will definitely turn out good.

Jungshin: Hong Kong’s night-view is so beautiful! All of us love it!

Q6: CNBLUE always try different style during the performances, but personally what kind of style do each of you likes?

Minhyuk: I’ll always coordinate with the coordinators, but personally I like simple and plain outfits.

Jonghyun: Personally, I am more sensitive when it comes to the outfits. Sometimes I will wear exaggerated outfits but normally I’ll wear T-shirt with jeans.

Jungshin: I like accessories to match with full black suit, but this time I wore slight sharp outfits, I am surprise myself too.

Yonghwa: I like comfortable clothes, as long it as matches me, I’m okay with it.

Q7: YongHwa performed an impromptu song in Japan; will you also perform an impromptu song for Hong Kong boices?

Yonghwa: I’ll definitely perform, if I can speak Cantonese. But with Korean or English, it is already stated as “impromptu”, thus it is based on the atmosphere. If the atmosphere has feel, plus boices understand Korean, I don’t mind to performing.

Q8: It is Jonghyun’s birthday soon, how do you wish the member will celebrate it?

Jonghyun:  It is a week before my birthday; normally members will celebrate my birthday together.

Q9: Lastly, what do you want to say to Hong Kong boices?

Jungshin:  Can’t wait to meet the Hong Kong boices! Hope that they will look forward to our performance; we promise to bring joy/pleasure to everyone!

Jonghyun: Our today’s status is all thanks to fans that support us, thanks everyone! Therefore, we’ll use our best performance in return to our fans.

Yonghwa: Every time we come to Hong Kong, our fans will welcome us enthusiastically; we’ll perform enthusiastically as well and also to bring everyone an unforgettable memory.

Minhyuk: Our concert theme is Blue Moon, as Blue Moon is a rare natural phenomena, thus it will be a special day. I hope that Hong Kong concert will be like Blue Moon and bring an unforgettable night for everyone!

 5

From the start stimulate to the end:

Each night they had attracted more than7000 boices, both nights they attracted a total of more than tens of thousands boices. Before the start of concert, there are already lots of fans queuing early in the morning. 15 minutes before the concert had started, the fans are already all ready to welcome CNBLUE. CNBLUE first sang a rock song, ‘Where Are You’ to excite the fans, then sang ‘Get Away, ‘One time’ and Coffee Shop’. Unlike other Korean groups, they did not make use VCR time, or wore luxurious clothing’s. They turned up with a simple T-shirt plus jeans for the whole concert. Just with their singings and instruments, they filled the 2 hours concert; this proves that they are definitely one of the best bands in Korea.

Love Song:

Beside rock songs, the romantic representatives, Yonghwa and Jonghyun also led Jungshin and Minhyuk to play a touching love song; it showed their gentle and affectionate side. Firstly, Yonghwa played ‘Feelings’ with keyboard, it changed the atmosphere. Then Jonghyun played guitar to led Jungshin and Minhyuk to perform slow song ‘Love Light’ and ‘These Days’. Fans shone white lights while they sang ‘Love Light’ to create a white sea. This makes the atmosphere to be more romantic. Yonghwa can’t help but to be touched and shouted “Thank You So Much!”

30Times of Love Hong Kong:

Every time before they start singing, Yonghwa will shout ‘Are You Ready Hong Kong?!’, ‘Make Some Noise’, or ‘We Love Hong Kong’. And after singing a song, Jungshin and Jonghyun will use Cantonese and shouted something like ‘are you guys happy?’ In the 2 hours concert, CNBLUE shouted more than 30 times of ‘We Love Hong Kong’. During encore, Yonghwa kept his promise and performed impromptu song in English to thanks the fans. Although lyrics are just ‘I Will Remember Tonight’, ‘We Love Hong Kong’, ‘I Love Hong Kong’, etc. But at the end, Yonghwa added a part of beat box. Shockingly, fans screamed. Then they performed ‘Hey You’, ‘Love Girl’ and ‘Try Again, Smile Again’.
