Before I start this, I would like to warn you guys that this article is base on my opinion so I apologize if any of you get offended.
This is not a review but more like critics toward the Can’t Stop album and I guess I am one of the few Boice that oppose this album from the concept, MV, music in general, and comeback stages. So fellow Boice, read this with your own risk because I already received many angry mentions on twitter because of my disagreement. So yeah, if you are the kind of fans who can’t stand with different idea then I advice you not to read this.
From the start FNC announced CNBLUE’s new album, I already disagree with the idea, why? Because that means Yonghwa did prepare this album during his MHIYD and Blue Moon Tour and let face it, that Yonghwa is the main person in this album more over right now he also serving as producer as well. I just don not want him to over work himself although he keep saying his work is fun.
My disagreement bit loosens when one night Yonghwa tweeted and saying something about brass music which was increasing my curiosity. Unfortunately, my excitement did not last long because FNC release a selca of the member in MV filming set. I quickly conclude that the album will not meet my expectation and I doubt if I will like the album either. And the more FNC — that continuously — release promotional photos and teasers the more I have no interest with the album.
Honestly I just watched the MV once, and during the time I was just frowning, what with the song and MV? CNBLUE became more and more idol-ish (but for sure I cannot complain, it is Korean after all, what can I expect but as fans I cannot help but disappoint). And when finally I bought the digital version while I am waiting for my copy arrived, I just glad that I put my expectation on the right place.
One word for this album, I DO NOT LIKE IT (yet I still buy 2 versions of the album).
First of all, I can find that Can’t Stop music style in many popular band and music now days, nothing special with this album unlike CNBLUE’s previous album because Cant Stop is dominates by commercial music ( ps: I start to listen another Kpop music other than FNC artist to try to understand their style more).
To me CNBLUE has lost their uniqueness, lost their touch in order to give another color in Kpop music. Can’t Stop failed to show their own style and I hate that. The only difference among those Kpop idol is that CNBLUE is playing instruments for real, compose and produce their own songs but those not enough to buy me.
Do not ask me about it because I am highly uninterested, I can bear to listen to the song but not watching the MV. I read many reviews from fans and medias with mix outcome but I guess I go with those who put the thumbs down.
When the MV was out it was just proven why I do not like the album, to me being mature does not mean you have to wear suit and singing endless love. Mature in music, technique and vision is more important. From here I think they only after cash instead of art. And love is not only love interest between man and woman, there many kind of love in this world yet these days they only care about desire. Where is CNBLUE who likes to sing about their dream, about their daily life, about their interest in chasing the bigger stage? All gone already by the word of “mature”.
Speaking about the album I do not understand why they choose Can’t Stop as title track, aside of song title that also album title, I do not think that the song is match enough with the MV concept. For me, if they insist with the concept, why did not the go with Cold Love or Sleepless Night? Both are having melody that suit for the concept. To me Can’t Stop is just plain popular music that you can find everywhere now days that song has no CNBLUE taste at all.
Personally I rooted for Diamond Girl or Like A Child as title track. Only those songs that show it were CNBLUE who compose and sing it. Diamond Girl is just as CNBLUE’s usual music, unique and only them who made it. This song is just different with their previous songs they made without lessen the attractiveness of guitar riff, bold drum beat and fancy bass not to mention the “Brass”, suddenly I wondering Yonghwa’s tweet that night is about this song. Sadly it is not a title track.
Next up is Cold Love, how to say, it is one of CNBLUE’s kinds of medium beat songs, one of the sweet (or sad) slow rock songs, followed closely by Sleepless Night. Another medium low beat songs with interesting guitar solo. Cold Love and Sleepless Night should be Burning Soul favorites songs since here Jonghyun can show off all out of his skill both in singing and guitar. Sleepless Night is bit pop-ish compare to with intense Cold Love rock sound.
The music intensity came into the lowest point for Love Is, another pop ballad and popular and commercial music CNBLUE presented to Boice. Nothing I can say about this song because aside from Yonghwa and Jonghyun harmonic voice, there nothing special about this song.
Last one is Like A Child, another unique song brought up by piano sound, followed by orchestra blended by main instruments, Like A Child bring back CNBLUE’s musical style that seem lost in this album.
I do feel that Minhyuk’s drumming style is very various in this album. He seemed to have more space to explore himself compare with CNBLUE’s previous album.
And of course I do not forget with Jungshin’s fancy bass (this is biased so do not count in).
I do feel nothing but proud less, why? Because no “LIVE” and even been cheated by “all live show comeback special”. They did live for TV air, okay, live. But apparently Korean has new meaning of “LIVE” because as long as I know, LIVE means you play there and I watch you at the same time but not with Korean, they have different meaning of that. And if you hope I will appreciate the effort they made for recording — wasting for me — over than 15 hours, nope, do not expect me. Because for me that recording is the most ridiculous thing ever, what did they do wasting so much time just for worth 6 songs and 3 medleys? And the point is; what is called LIVE when they take one song more than once? TV program is full of trick and I never fond of that. For me as cool as their performance on that screen, I am sorry that I am hardly appreciating it.
I am too demanding Boice am I not? LOL

Hello. This is Lee Jung Shin from CNBLUE.
When I was a student, I dreamed of becoming a photographer along with becoming a singer. Since New Year 2014 is here, I am feeling joy as I started taking pictures again as my hobby. I am curious about what kind of dreams and plans everyone has in 2014.
For few years after making a debut as CNBLUE in 2010, I was getting used to getting pictures taken rather than taking pictures, but I suddenly remembered the dream when I was a kid and decided ‘Let’s try taking pictures~’. With curiosity, I read this and that and also searched and I came to remember the time one by one of studying photography by myself and also the good memories of my childhood and I am getting happy.
A month ago in January 2014, I went to North, Central and Latin America with CNBLUE members as part of the world tour. In America, other than the performance schedules, shooting for the album cover to make a comeback in Korea that will be released soon (will be released on 24th, next week!) was also expected to take place throughout the regions of New York so it was a bit tight schedule. It was a tight schedule but I decided to contain in my camera this special travel story.
I diligently carried the camera and took pictures of things I want to take pictures of and had a fun time. I would like to share with everyone what I saw, felt and what I want to talk about. So I have prepared.
On the day of performing in New York, I usually do not go to bed early and do not get up early but maybe because it is due to jet lag, I was able to wake up in the early morning. I took the camera and just walked out the door. On this day, it really snowed a lot but the streets of New York was crowded with lots of people. I got a feeling that everyone was busy living their lives in different ways. There is a person who waits for the traffic light, a person who is looking for some place in a complicated street and there are people who are moving as if they are heading to the place they always go to… I felt that there are really various people.
I have caught those very moments in the camera.
To me, the first impression of a city called New York is either cold or not familiar yet… It gave me that kind of feeling.
However, a cold dawn passed and the sun rises and I got more excited as the performance in New York is coming up.
I also caught on the camera New York’s Brooklyn Bridge, the place where we shot the album cover of our new album ‘Can’t stop’.
I always carried the camera just in case while taking pictures of the album cover and I am glad I did that since a good picture came out. It was a very freezing weather that is below zero but when I saw Brooklyn Bridge, it was a day after meeting with fans in New York, who greeted us, so I remember at least my mind being very warm.
Fortunately to me, there are always excellent models. I come to think about old times a lot when I take pictures of the members, and it also feels like taking pictures of people is becoming much more fun.
In Peru, the performance hall was outdoors. So there were lots of things to take pictures of. I have taken a picture of Yong Hwa, an excellent model who makes best poses when I am holding the camera. It is a picture that I took at the back of the waiting room after the rehearsal for the performance in Peru is over, and it is always fun taking pictures of the leader of CNBLUE who is also the oldest member. He automatically makes poses and he sometimes takes a picture of me also.
There are so many fans lined up behind Yong Hwa and can everyone see them?
No doubt… This is Yong Hwa, who can easily make poses that can sometimes look awkward.
The fact that people from this far away know CNBLUE and passionately supports our concert was rather cool and an honor. I felt that lots of people love CNBLUE while doing the world tour so I was happy and at the same time, the sense of responsibility got bigger.
This is guitarist from CNBLUE, Jong Hyun. It is him going around the performance hall before the rehearsal. This person… He is relatively picky when taking pictures. It is hard to find him standing still.. He is a picky model but Jong Hyun, he really is white.. Yes.. He looks like mayonnaise.
This is Min Hyuk, the drummer from CNBLUE, in the middle of the rehearsal. The truth is, out of all the pictures in my camera, I have least of Min Hyuk… I don’t know the reason why. However, when I looked with the perspective of someone who takes pictures, Min Hyuk was really chic… Why would Min Hyuk through the lens become chic..?
The last but not least of this world tour, Chile!
The day before the concert, we went to different places for SBS comeback show that will be aired on March 2nd (make it as an excuse). We met a kid in a restaurant. I have taken a picture of a kid, who was really naïve, in the camera. I thought that this kid will match well with the song ‘Children’s Song’, the song that is listed in the album Can’t Stop.
Also, throughout the regions in Chile, we could see either graffiti or fancy decorations easily, and it is said that it also contains the meaning of trying to fight off evil spirits.
The weather of Chile back then was Korea’s summer and I had a special feeling as I was able to feel the summer weather in winter. I guess this is the reason for travelling to countries that has warm weather in winter, right?
Just like you see in the picture, everyone has joyful steps~
We also went to a wine farm for the after-party after the concert is over. Maybe because the entire performance is over, everyone looked really relaxed. There is me taking pictures and I see Min Hyuk, who is looking at me(?) from far away~
When I looked at the members through the lens and took the pictures myself, I was able to feel once again that ‘everyone is becoming mature and are really turning into men’. It is 5th year since making the debut as of this year, and I think I will be happy if I can be together with the members for a long time and hold the pictures of them in my camera. There are more pictures but sadly, this is it for now~
There are lots of parts in which I lack but I hope everyone look at it in a positive way. I hope to keep enjoying taking pictures and share it with everyone from now on to the future~
Thank you for watching until the end and please show lots of support toward CNBLUE Can’t Stop that will be released on February 24th.

CNBLUE will release their 2nd album in Japan ‘What Turns You On?’ on Aug 28th. They will be also released ‘Lady’ ahead of this album. In this summer, they have lots of live in Japan like Zepp tour and Summer Sonic. ‘Lady’ is a disco tune song that has a mature atmosphere, but it contradicts with their public image that is serious and good young man. Which is in fact their true figure?
—Before an interview, Yonghwa, you have got tanned, haven’t you?
Yonghwa: eh… why everyone asks me so …? Actually since I play golf recently, I’ve tanned. I didn’t get it on purpose, so I wonder why everyone asks me so.
—Eh? You said you play golf, right?
Yonghwa: Yes I am. I think it is better to learn as early as possible.
—…Well, What is it for?
Yonghwa: Because there is an image that adult plays golf. And I heard that it is good for posture fixing. I take the lesson as possible as I can only when I have time. Recently the number of young people playing golf has grown in Korea.
—Oh, I see. By the way, I am asking about your new single ‘Lady’. Is this a song for Japan?
Yonghwa: No, it is not. We don’t stick to in which country we would release it. We have a stance that we offer a song when we made at the time to release. This time, I had composed another ballad song but it is not like for summer, so I chose ‘Lady’.
—This song has mature atmosphere and it has dance tune.
Minhyuk: A rhythm sounds like disco. I think our live performance is going to be excited with this song. I am also excited to play a drum.
—There is an image that disco is sleazy in Japan. But your Japanese fan has an image that CNBLUE is a good young man and serious rock band.
Jonghyun: It is true. Our image for fan is “GENTLEMAN”… Since everyone has such as an image, so we have to be so …
—Huh? Are you meaning that this is not true in fact?
Jonghyun: Oh, no, no (Laugh). If we did bad things, our image would get damage even though there is such a good image for us. So inevitably conclude that we have to be a GENTLEMAN as an image that everyone have.
Yonghwa: An image of good young man and GENTLEMAN fit with our image (said it firmly).
Jonghyun: So we are looked at with such an image in Korea.
Jungshin: In fact, we are not outstripping the image.
Yonghwa: We are always (with a proud face) “serious people”.
—Huh? Is it true?
Yonghwa: Yes. Because the leader (=Yonghwa) is like that!!
Jungshin: (in low voices) Too much to say.
Yonghwa: (Glance at Jungshin).
Jungshin: (in low voices) oh, just a kidding.
—If you are so serious people, I think that the image of the disco is unexpected.
Yonghwa: Yes it is, that’s correct (admit openly, everyone laughed). So it goes like that. Since ‘Lady’ is the sexiest song we ever released, we get a disco image on stage.
Jonghyun: We do our best to get the atmosphere of disco, but when we walk off the stage once, we turn out to be serious people.
—Umm. You artfully dodge our question …
Jonghyun: No, no. Actually we are told that we are serious people from FNC staff and people who are close to us, not only by fans.
Yonghwa: So, I play golf.
Jonghyun: Members escape to some sports.
—Don’t you go a disco or night club in your free time?
Jonghyun: Totally not.
—Are you sure?
Jonghyun: We might think that we are telling you a lie (Laugh) but absolutely not.
—But you think you want to go there, don’t you?
Yonghwa: It is going to cost money …
Jonghyun: I think we wanted to go there when we were around 20 years old though; we have been so busy and couldn’t go. Even if we were here now, we have no idea what do we do… (Laugh) And since now we are doing KFHI (Korea Food for Hungry International), we want to be a good model for everyone.
—There is an image that CNBLUE = Serious people and good young man, in both of Korea and Japan. Do you think what a catalyst is?
Jonghyun: No idea.
—Is it FNC’s plan?
Jonghyun: No, it is not.
Yonghwa: It might be because we often wear a suit.
Jonghyun: Yes! It is it!
Yonghwa: Since we have worn a suit from the beginning, our image might be serious. Actually, when we wear a suit, we look so cool (Laugh)
Jonghyun: We didn’t have free time at all at the beginning of our debut. And now, even if we had it, we have no idea how to play because we have not been to play. So we do some sports.
—That’s why you play golf or muscle training.
Yonghwa: Well, I think public image is made by fans or everyone, not by us. Now, CNBLUE = Serious people and good young man, GENTLEMAN. It is okay for us now.
Jungshin: And people have an image for us the rock band that a tattoo does not match (Laugh). Everyone says to us do not get a tattoo.
Jonghyun: Not only tattoo, I had had three piercing holes in my ears but now I have never wear them.
—Even if you say so, in fact you might have lots of tattoos on your back (laugh)
All: No, no.
Yonghwa: But, kkk (awless smile). My back is absolutely full of tattoos.
—Wow, shows us!
Yonghwa: I am sorry. It is a secret between you and me. (*just kidding all (Laugh))
—Well, can I hear about a song ‘Don’t Care’? What kind of theme did you make this song with?
Yonghwa: This is the song that I want people who think that oneself are alone to hear this song. Don’t worry because I have family and friends … I wrote such a message.
—You wrote this lyric by replacing the fans and you.
Yonghwa: Since I am in this position, I could write this lyric. We have ‘the fan’ that is kind of special position for us, not only family and friends. Because I have the special privilege which general people don’t have, the existence of the fans come out in my head naturally. We have not had such a song that was expressing directly the connection with the fan and us, I wanted to write about this connection.
—Can we ask you about the sound of this song? Why did you make this such as an acoustic sound?
Yonghwa: Since the original was so. About a guitar, we used acoustic guitar only but at the time of recording, Jonghyun put the electric guitar sounds.
—The bridge was played by the brass horns, it is very impressive.
Yonghwa: Most of the songs have rap or the guitar solo part after chorus, but this song has the brass horns. This is the point of this song.
Minhyuk: Since I love that part, I attached my mind about the tone of my drum when I recorded it. I listened to it many times; I thought the sounds that fit with this song’s atmosphere.
Yonghwa: This song is not fancy but I thought that the impression when we listened to this song is important. So as Minhyuk had said, we cared about even one tone of the drum.
— As a result, it turns out contrasting song from ‘Lady’ that has fancy and digital sounds.
Jonghyun: It seems to have a style like Europe or England.
Yonghwa: Actually, there are some points in this song. Since it has a violin tone in the bridge, we can feel Oriental atmosphere. Depends on a person who listen to it the impression would be different.
Jungshin: There may be the people thinking this song to be a sad song. The bass line is simple in this song. If ‘Lady’ has an atmosphere such as digital, ‘Don’t Care’ has acoustic sound. So I feel this one seems more “band sound”.
—‘Monday’ is a song that was made from Yonghwa’s delusion of his specialty?
Yonghwa: Yes it is. The office worker would feel happy on Friday and they would also feel hard on Sunday night, and then greet Monday morning. I imagined like that and wrote this lyric.
—Your world tour will be continued after Zepp tour in Japan. What do you look forward to?
Yonghwa: A dinner with staff after live. I look forward to eat local food.
—Do you drink?
Minhyuk: Since we are tired after a live.
Jungshin: Not too much drink.
Yonghwa: We only drink the first one glass.
—You are serious people even in such as situation.
—Don’t you think you want to break down that image?
Yonghwa: More than 20 years, we are the same like this, so we can’t. We will stay like this now and in the future.
—You told us your epic plan that after you conquered the world in your world tour, you will buy your personal plane, and whenever you want to eat Sushi, you would come to Japan using that plane. If it came true, is the body of your plane blue?
Yonghwa: No, Black!
Yonghwa: Because the spots are not easy to notice. (Everyone laughs) The inside makes black not to become dirty.
Jungshin: But If it was all back, it would be hard to see by people, isn’t it?
Yonghwa: It is okay because I make it highlighted block!
—When this plan would become real?
Yonghwa: Since this time’s world tour is our first time one, it might be around next world tour (Laugh)

CNBLUE had ever visited Kuala Lumpur in early of this year, popular band from Korea CNBLUE return once more time for their solo concert on Saturday; their first visit was for Golden Disk award last January.
CNBLUE Blue Moon World Tour who held in Merdeka Stadium (it’s a mistake, because BM Malaysia was held at Stadium Nagara) attended by almost 10.000 audiences, not only in Kuala Lumpur but their World Tour had visited Philiphina, Hongkong, Singapore and Australia.
Yonghwa: ‘We have a lot of planning regarding world tour and we will focus on that matter. After the world tour ended we will start to make new song and release a new album.’
Establish at 2009, the rock band that consist of Jung Yonghwa, Lee Jonghyun, Lee Jungshin and Kang Minhyuk still consider keeping playing rock genre (for their music).
Yonghwa: ‘We want to keep our identity still, but we are also wanted to try to play the pure rock genre. But for now we want to focus on commercials music to represent our music.’
Inspired by UK’s band OASIS, Yonghwa confesses that he composed song according to his own feeling at that time and his surrounding.
Yonghwa: ‘When I’m happy, I’ll write it down to the lyric. Sometimes I have inspiration when I’m about to go to bed. So its really depending on my situation (or surrounding).’
‘In one song could have different feeling when we listen to in from CD and when we sing it on live. I feel the feeling is different from our CD sound.’
CNBLUE latest song’s, I’m sorry, not only became hit in Korea but also reached high peak in Japan.
Yonghwa: ‘In this album there single entitle ‘Coffee Shop’, I had inspiration when I was at coffee shop. ‘Naran Namja’ (A Guy Like Me) inspired by a phrase on the internet. As well as ‘I’m Sorry’ that telling about a guy who expressed his feeling after he broke up and how he treats his memories (about his relationship before).’
CNBLUE is now busy to promote their Japanese album entitle ‘One More Time.’ (there mistake here, CNBLUE’s latest Japanese album is entitled ‘What Turns You On’ and ‘One More Time’ is the title track for ‘What Turns You On’)
